9 out of 10 pets love us!

This is a great mood lifter at our wonderful vet’s office. Parkway veterinary clinic is the best vet clinic ever. The staff are awesome and super friendly. They love their work and their patients with a deep passion. They also have a great sense of humour to boot as can be seen all around the practice with funny and quirky pictures and objects on display.

This board is the ‘watch this space’ when you visit the vet,  with funny quotes and a welcoming vibe. It’s

a place where happy fur parents stop to chat and admire each other’s precious fur babies. After all who isn’t proud of their fur babies? They are the light of our lives just as much as our human children.

Stephanie Aston: Woman dies aged 33 after doctors dismissed her horror EDS symptoms and accused her of faking it

 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12485989/woman-dies-33-doctors-accused-faking-EDS.html?ito=social-facebook&fbclid=IwAR0VEGH4ijeSou66yTlDrvIx1zZve0uzyNhRosFTuNIabSERss6AQtWtl04_aem_AUuwwxF0_46WwHGAhfruOKj0Zqx9QWWIbM4LNPm-JYatQ7fzKmBx7uDLOOQzFrOA5yw

This poor young woman suffering like this and dismissed by yet another arrogant doctor. How disrespectful and disempowering to be treated like this. I hope that some good can come out of this situation and protect others in similar circumstances. The heartache that this woman and her family have had to endure is unacceptable and something needs to be done to hold the medical system accountable.

The Health Benefits of Pumpkin Seed Oil

https://www.healthline.com/health/pumpkin-seed-oil

This is liquid gold, pumpkin seed oil is a multi purpose oil for skin care, general health and hair growth especially if you’re going bald. It supposedly will have your hair growing back in 6 months. Various websites are discussing the benefits of this oil. Scroll down from the first article and you’ll see more information on its benefits including assistance in mental health care.

In recent years we have seen the benefits of jojoba oil, coconut oil, argan oil, rosehip oil, avocado oil and now pumpkin seed oil. They all have their benefits depending on what you want them for or even making a combination of oils as a face and skin care routine. You could add these oils into your moisturiser such as QV cream, Cetaphil or whatever you use. You can also add essential oils for added protection such as frankincense, jasmine, bergamot, lavender and clary sage among others.

https://www.healthline.com/health/essential-oils-for-skin#oily-skin

This is a list of essential oils that benefit your skin. I have a great stash of oils and use them in Cetaphil with jojoba, avocado and a couple of other oils. So if you’re interested you can make your own skincare products by adding some essential oils and cold pressed oils into your moisturiser and enjoy the benefits of glowing skin.

Genetic blood condition haemochromatosis continues to be under-diagnosed, say advocates

 https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-09-04/nt-darwin-mother-spreads-haemochromatosis-disorder-awareness/102799642

It’s also known as the Celtic disease, and it is not rare. I was tested for this before being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Luckily for me my haemochromatosis came back negative. It depends on how well informed your doctor is. But it is definitely not a rare condition otherwise it wouldn’t be called the Celtic disease.

Eczema, Asthma, Food Allergy and Hay Fever: Common Origin Discovered Behind Major Childhood Allergies

 https://scitechdaily.com/eczema-asthma-food-allergy-and-hay-fever-common-origin-discovered-behind-major-childhood-allergies/

Most illnesses start in the intestines and that was something that was known by academics thousands of years ago. They just didn’t have the technology to prove it, only by observation. Fermented foods were used to repair the health of the gut. It is similar today except we can do proper scientific analysis and alter the diet to address the deficit.

This is why when using antibiotics one takes probiotics for three months to restore the gut bacteria for optimal health care. Not being a doctor I don’t know what age treatment should commence for babies. Though I do feel both paediatric and natural therapists care combined may be helpful. Also when to start babies on solid food may make a difference too. When I was a baby, babies were on solid foods at three months old, but when my babies were born the rule was 6 months old. That may work on some babies but not all babies. I had to start my babies on solid food by 4 months old or there about because they were clearly not getting enough nutrients. My doctor advised me to mix a malt type product into the milk formula to help them but it only worked for so long and then I had to introduce baby food. That was a laugh and a half, the first mouthful and baby is like, what am I supposed to do with this mush.

Modern society uses a lot of processed foods and they may not be good for infants and children and they may cause allergies and intestinal issues. Since the 1980’ there has been a significant increase in childhood allergies and asthma. You really notice this when your children are starting preschool and kindergarten. I was stunned when my oldest was starting kindergarten when I saw how many children had health problems. I was not around children up until that point because I didn’t know anyone with children. So it was a big surprise. My oldest child was an asthmatic and then developed other autoimmune health problems.

WHO holds first traditional medicine summit

 https://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/who-holds-first-traditional-medicine-summit/news-story/0b233491ab449998802052a793a277a5

I have said previously that the day will come when conventional medicine will need to allow for alternative medicine and treatments because of the lack of doctors and a failed medical system.

Well here we are a medical summit to discuss this very subject. The only reason that very few tests have ever been conducted on natural medicine is because big pharma has a vested interest in debunking things that are able to be grown in your garden.

Benefits, downsides: Everything you need to know about tea

 https://www.heraldsun.com.au/lifestyle/food/benefits-downsides-everything-you-need-to-know-about-tea/news-story/a8ac8d4d5ba7563c1ddad097ec3fb32f

Ahh, There’s nothing like a good cup of tea to kick start your morning. Pure bliss with so many flavours and types to choose from. And the cup or mug that is your favourite to add to the moment of bliss.

Don’t drink too much tea though because it can have unpleasant side effects that you may not be aware of, moderation is the key.

https://psychictarotreadingwithalexfulford.blogspot.com/2022/01/eat-this-10-signs-youre-drinking-too.html

Recently I discovered that Twining’s have brought out a French Earl Grey tea with vanilla so I had to try it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will probably use this instead of their regular Earl Grey tea. But nothing tops the French Earl Grey tea by T2 which has been around for years. This is luxurious and highly recommended to anyone living in Australia that loves tea. As far as I know T2 is not available outside of Australia. Please be aware too that there is a thing called Earl Grey intoxication, which is caused by Bergamot in the ingredients. The symptoms are bloating and muscle cramps in your legs that are quite painful, speaking from experience. So the safe limit is three or four cups per day, unless your drink sufficient water or use magnesium cream on the affected muscles.

https://psychictarotreadingwithalexfulford.blogspot.com/2021/03/the-lancet-earl-grey-tea-intoxication.html The Lancet, Earl Grey intoxication.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earl_Grey_tea Yay, T2 French Earl Grey tea is mentioned in Wikipedia 😻 Crème brûlée tea from T2 is lovely as is New York breakfast tea, Russian caravan tea is highly popular too.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earl_Grey_tea

Tea is more than a lovely warm beverage it is a lifestyle and a ritual to be enjoyed. The spin off from this is the appreciation of lovely bone China and beautiful teapots to collect. I really love teapots 🫖 I have a favourite teapot which is the Brambly Hedge teapot made in England with matching cream and sugar bowl and the seasonal mugs,  tea cups, sauces and plates. My dream is to find a chintz teapot but it has to be a particular colour. I missed the chance years ago to buy one. But now and again I comb the internet to see if one takes my fancy. Eventually the right one will turn up at a reasonable price.

I had a lovely Arthur Woods and son teapot and four years ago I had it on the gas stove and forgot about it. Sadly when I went to pick it up the bottom fell off and hot tea went everywhere. I was devastated because I loved this teapot and they are no longer available. It was a particularly nice looking teapot. Golden rule is never put a china teapot on the stove top. Even at a low temperature it may crack. A teapot warmer is a safe way to keep the tea warm between drinks. T2 and Adore Tea sell them so don’t do what I did, lol. Yes I do have a glass teapot warmer which I use it was just me having a senior’s moment and put my teapot on the gas stove D’oh! Never mind, just keep calm and drink tea 🫖😃   https://adoretea.com.au/collections/teawares?filter.v.availability=1&page=3. The link for a glass teapot warmer. This is the one that I have, it’s nicer than the black one sold by T2 IMHO ❤️

Warm and fuzzy hugs

Too young: why are Australians under 50 increasingly being diagnosed with cancer?

 https://apple.news/Azc3IesQWSzetzrpblPjNWA

Bowel cancer can happen at any age so don’t kid yourself, and insist on a colonoscopy if you are passing blood frequently. There are others diseases too like Chrons disease, ulcerative colitis and Chrons -Colitis. With ulcerative colitis you definitely pass vast amounts of blood and left untreated it can kill. There are a few doctors that are not well versed in these diseases striking young people because they may not see this disease very often but they should send you for a colonoscopy if you are bleeding. There is a big difference between haemorrhoids bleeding and passing blood from bowel movements.

Don’t be fobbed off by a doctor that treats your concerns as over reacting. As I have pointed out in several posts about my husband at the age of 21 being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and he was unfortunately in the worst category with his  illness and his body did not respond to treatment so he had to endure several surgeries and blood transfusions. He also had a DVT at the same time, talk about seriously unlucky.

Don’t ignore the symptoms of passing blood in your stools regularly it is serious. Fear often delays people going to the doctor too. But if you catch the symptoms early enough you can be in with a good chance of survival so don’t delay out of fear. Your diet definitely affects your health in multiple ways,  and processed foods are the main culprit especially eating processed meats like ham and sandwich meats. Tinned processed foods are also in the unhealthy category due to preservatives and sugars. Corn syrup is a major contributor to health issues.

Your intestinal health must always be monitored because this is where most symptoms for serious illness occur. The intestinal walls are very thin and it doesn’t take much to have a leaky gut which then is the catalyst for many diseases or other health issues including depression and anxiety. Leaky gut syndrome is extremely common and is part of the reason why people are getting sick. The stomach is also the second brain when it comes to serotonin although it works differently in the stomach, and this was know by scholars as far back as Hippocrates time they believed if the stomach was unhealthy it could cause depression.

One thing that I learned in my early 20’s by going to naturopaths was the importance of taking probiotics and good quality ones prescribed by my naturopath or purchased at a health food store that are refrigerated. When taking antibiotics you should simultaneously take the probiotics to assist in fighting the infection. Lactobacillus acidophilus combined with other good bacteria should be taken for three month to restore the gut bacteria to a healthy state. If your lactose intolerant acidophilus may cause bloating and diarrhoea. Acidophilus can cause weight gain too so be careful. There are other good bacteria alternatives that are available so talk to a natural therapist or enquire at your health food store about what the best probiotics are for your body. There is a specific probiotic for people that suffer from IBS too.

Also fermented food like sauerkraut and pickled vegetables are very good for your body just read the ingredients of the product before buying it in case it has sugars that are not good for your health especially corn syrup which is a known neurological toxin. Apple cider vinegar made from the whole apple or mother apple is also a good health choice. I have always had this in my kitchen since I got married because I am well aware of its health benefits due to my father taking it for his ulcerative colitis when I was three years old.

Remember to always inform your doctor on what alternative health products you are consuming because they may interfere with your medication and perhaps there is a better alternative for you.

You will find this philosophy article quite informative also, notice how everything comes full circle eventually. Nothing on earth is new, everything goes in cycles including the way we think.

Humans are creatures of habit though and often get fed up with food and then go looking for chocolate and other goodies that they crave. So it’s a bit of a vicious circle with our eating habits not to mention long working hours and coming home tired and not wanting to slave over a stove to make dinner for the family.

Modern society is on a treadmill without sufficient balance between working and relaxing at home in order to stay healthy. Working in retail and hospitality especially can mean long work hours or not enough work hours to be able to afford good quality food for optimal health. Add the cost of living into the equation and you can see the dilemma. Then factor in having or not having sound knowledge of nutrition, while struggling with food affordability, keeping a roof over your head while juggling your finances. Healthy choices are not easy on a limited budget and so the cycle of health can be a constant struggle for many people.

It’s best to just try to avoid takeaway foods and fried foods and soft drinks to start with, make some healthy choices such as switching to apple cider vinegar instead of other vinegars. Apple cider vinegar can be used with olive oil to make a salad dressing too. Not to mention apple cider vinegar has multiple benefits and uses. Did you know that apple cider vinegar helps balance the acid in your body?

Switch to healthy foods as soon as you can to obtain the best quality life before you hit old age, by the time you reach 60 your health could already be compromised. Compare your body to an old rust bucket of a car to a Lamborghini. Shit box or a cool looking car, hmm tough decision!

One final thing though, check out the ingredients of everything you buy, because there are preservatives, food colouring chemicals and other things which are just a number on the packaging. You need to learn what they are and what they do to your health. These are all factors which may affect our gut health and our entire bodily health and wellbeing.

Surprising Signs of Dementia and New Research On What Causes It

 https://medical-news.org/surprising-signs-of-dementia-and-new-research-on-what-causes-it/43287/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=MN11&utm_campaign=23854738898970760&utm_content=23854738899060760_23854738935190760&fbclid=IwAR2wj7AdGv0TD_AHZtVxx_9tgwp7IGQpQTJlnObFROOh5jpsM1UoH0WmijI_aem_ARmTqKyTtR5QhxvusGzmMORdnLGvp3bvOD5y9c6POP5zFBvKDspRMRnlVhCPwuZgArZ0JG5plXC1Wtmd91glGB3Y

This is a very interesting article and we all need to know the signs, most of us have loved ones going through this nightmare and it is a very big problem these days. We know it is on the increase and there is a rare child version of dementia, sadly people as young as their  20’s have been diagnosed.

I would say not only are genetics involved but also our diet plays a huge role in this disease. Loneliness too is definitely a factor if people are shut off from the community and they have no interaction whatsoever with others. They just lose the sense of belonging and possibly the will to live.

25 Signs Of Highly Toxic People

 https://medical-news.org/25-signs-of-highly-toxic-people/45579/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=MN8&utm_campaign=23857246157030311&utm_content=23857246158910311_23857246232690311&fbclid=IwAR3-T9hEVtjTwQUxnYLbL7YpY4b9FSjBktQLAbBFrjk4s2vQuOq285v6Pxg_aem_AX3fZL-vtCe3yEqDfD98NaGzaY5vGzHQr9ipqBQIgkRpHwTUNn8DuT6qyfDAucHgR77r3--_DQBpUnjF6EtNADwK

Social Media is a high risk area for toxic people looking for victims, never put personal information on social media because there are people out there who delight in abusing others and can cause deep emotional distress and psychological harm to vulnerable people. Trolling has become sport to some people which is an obvious toxic trait, and in no way is deliberately hunting down people online and bullying them for pleasure the actions of a normal human being.

Babies sleeping in prams outdoors in winter

 https://thenordics.com/trace/would-you-let-your-baby-nap-outside

This is not just a Nordic country thing, it’s all over northern Europe stretching as far as Russia to Scotland and Ireland and I assume the rest of Britain. My mother did this with my sibling and myself in the early sixties. It was common practice back then, I assume it still happens. We lived in an apartment up until I was about three years old. So children had to play down on the drying green in the courtyard back then. No supervision though! Older children would look after the younger children.

It’s a totally different world now, so babies should not be left unattended unlike the old days, because it is irresponsible and dangerous, anything could happen such as falling out of the pram, suffocating, stopping breathing or even someone taking the baby.

Fresh air and sunlight is very important in building up a healthy immune system in babies. Obviously you wrap them up warm and you don’t leave them outdoors for hours on end. Babies cannot regulate their body temperature, but parents dress their babies up warm for outdoors including woollen mittens and a woollen hat. We loose heat from the top of our heads and that is why one wears a woollen hat in winter.

If it’s a bitter cold day obviously you don’t put your babies outside and risk hypothermia. One thing to remember also is the closer one lives to the attic circle the less daylight in winter. Which means a lack of vitamin D from sunlight. Depression is common in countries where there is very little sunlight in winter. This also causes poor growth due to the lack of sunlight and vitamin D. The lack of crops in winter also affects the diet of many living in these regions. So people have to be wise and prepare for the long cold winter weather. That includes getting fresh air and preventing health problems such as bronchitis or the flu.

Even in Scotland, I remember it being dark at 4.00pm and pitch black by 5.00 pm where I lived in winter time and daylight was around 8.00 or 8.30am depending on the weather and if it was foggy or not.

However come summer it is daylight anytime between 4.50 to 5.00 am up to 11.00 pm in summer. Where I live in Australia, in summer it is dark outside around 9.00 pm and daylight beings around 5.00 am. In winter we generally have blue skies and kids can enjoy playing outside.

I am surprised that American people were unaware of this health practice. But I don’t think I would risk leaving a baby outdoors in New York like this. It is a different culture to Nordic countries and a high crime rate.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/02/03/return-old-habits-babies-encouraged-sleep-outside-fresh-air/

The article above implies that it was once done in the UK, but most of the internet only mentions Nordic countries. So why is is being ignored that we British people also did this? My generation were all babies that were outside to sleep during the day unless the parents circumstances prevented it.

This article below is about SIDS and babies over heating. Cool temperatures are actually better for sleeping for everyone. But not freezing cold. Sensible pajamas and warm blankets but not a hot room.

Harmful bacteria is lurking in your dirty tea towels: Here's how to clean them properly

 https://honey.nine.com.au/living/cleaning-tips-dirty-tea-towels-breeding-ground-for-bacteria-how-to/611a75d1-c5bc-4225-84b5-09eb5ae88830

I can’t believe people need to be told this, omg. Sunlight also kills bacteria, luckily for us in Australia we get plenty sunlight. I change my tea towel every two days, I also hang the one in use up where it can dry easily. Washing your hands with soap and water before handling any food is basic hygiene and common sense. Never do food prep without washing your hands thoroughly.

Do remember though there are good bacteria that we need to help with our immune system. When cleaning up surfaces you don’t need to use bleach or anything harsh that kills 99% of the bacteria. Unless you have a very busy household where everyone is in and out the kitchen constantly. Chopping boards though need to be disinfected after use. A wooden chopping board with cracks get rid of because harmful bacteria gets into the cracks.

One thing that people might forget is washing out a dish cloth that you wash dishes with. Especially if it’s left wet in a scrunched ball. These need to be soaked in a disinfectant like Vanish or a solution of bleach. Cotton dish cloths can be bleached back to being white like new. Then through the washing machine. Even towels are supposed to be washed every three days to prevent bacteria forming.

These are the basic things that we learned in high school when I was young. The home science or home economics classes taught this from the moment we started high school and we were constantly reminded of hygiene.

19 Signs of Vitamin D Deficiency

https://medical-news.org/signs-vitamin-d-deficiency/512/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=MN3&utm_campaign=23853409979870206&utm_content=23853409981090206_23853409993680206&fbclid=IwAR2ykzuF-z-7h7_EjBuKugrx2_vAFjt--HsKYzGt9cCApSWu6ACJgA_cRO4_aem_th_AcWGODoYwz_AH_YFoNe1TgpTRY83j18AxEl7onZK8Ga4mQ2IcZJs6lPvpreLm1Qe50aAIXcmSik46dMHBzAdENqN

People don’t realise how common this is, especially in winter and in countries that don’t get a lot of sunlight. If you live in an apartment and work full time, then it’s hard to get that sunlight.

Once you scroll through this article, there is one on magnesium deficiency please read that too. It is more often than not that we are deficient in magnesium. One of the first things you will notice is aching leg muscles and fatigue. Also magnesium taken orally is a waste of time and money. It is best absorbed transdermal in a cream form. I use this myself all the time. For muscle aches make sure that you drink enough water too because when muscles are not getting enough water they tighten up and can cause muscle aches and fatigue.

https://amazingoils.com.au/

This is the link for an Australian website that has a good magnesium cream, the spray leaves an icky texture on your skin, so use the cream. There is a great American brand called Ancient Minerals, I used to buy that but it’s very difficult to get recently, so I have been buying the Amazing Minerals Sleep lotion, which has lavender and chamomile essential oils. I guarantee that you will sleep well with that.

Bowel cancer symptoms: ‘Fit and healthy’ Aussie shares the early warning signs that led to agonising diagnosis

 https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/bowel-cancer-symptoms-fit-and-healthy-aussie-shares-the-early-warning-signs-that-led-to-agonising-diagnosis-c-10842533

Please read the entire news report,  it is yet another example of  ignorance and arrogance from doctors, she is a woman so she isn’t taken seriously as usual. This poor young lady has been put through an  unnecessary ordeal adding more suffering to her misery. We see this arrogance so many times and women are up poop creek in the end because of this attitude with delayed medical treatment. Just because the doctor has never seen a case of bowel cancer in a young person doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Bowel cancer strikes at any age and to anyone and that is a fact.

She has a right to call Ryan’s rule (or whatever state/territory you live in calls their version) on this when she is unable to access proper care in the hospital given this is a life threatening condition, (passing copious amounts of blood). All doctors know about Ryan’s rule and it will make them think twice before dismissing a patient presenting with such symptoms. Be assertive if you know something is not right with your body, your life depends on it, be assertive but not rude. Just politely state that you would like a second opinion from someone else and preferably ask for a specialist in the area of health that your symptoms are aligned with, in her case a gastroenterologist. Given that she is constantly passing blood which is not normal, it should be setting off alarm bells with doctors immediately that alongside anaemia and her other symptoms.

Even ulcerative colitis happens in young people and it has similar symptoms. My husband was 21 when he had it and he was one of the worst cases, his body would not respond to any treatment resulting in the removal of a large amount of intestines. Life after surgery has many complications too, it is not a walk in the park lifestyle I can assure you. Surgery to remove an ileostomy never lasts long either, within five years many people end up back with the ileostomy as was the case with my husband. Then the risk of a hernia in the years to come. Depending on the individual surgery may not be an option to repair a hernia, again as is the case with my husband he has three inoperable hernias.

Chron’s disease or the worst one Chron’s-Colotis is also a disease that happens to young people Chrons-Colitis can happen in any part of the digestive tract from the top to bottom. You don’t have to be in your 30’s to get this either there are much younger people who have this condition.

Passing blood is not normal especially if it is on going, dark coloured blood is old blood that has been in the body a while, fresh blood is bright red. Don’t under state your symptoms when seeing a doctor or they will not take you seriously, give them plenty information to help them reach a correct diagnosis.

Underplaying symptoms does not give the doctor enough information. Lay out your symptoms and how long they have been happening even the symptoms that you are not sure are related because they may well be very relevant. Your life may well be on the line. Stage three cancer is very serious, stage four is fatal.

Bowel cancer is slow growing so you may be unaware of it until you start seeing signs, if it’s caught early enough the chances of survival are high. If the cancer is progressing and passes through the walls of the organ then that’s extremely serious.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/crohns-disease/symptoms-causes/syc-20353304

The symptoms for females is slightly different to males, you can google the symptoms and find other information that is not covered by this link.

 https://www.bowelcanceraustralia.org/women

This is Bowel Cancer Australia in women link, it mentions a 24 year old woman, like I said at the top about being young and female, the doctor didn’t know it happened in younger women. What sort of doctor doesn’t know this, not a very good one obviously. Assumption is the mother of all screw ups. Never assume anything, find facts and get results. This poor woman had all the damn symptoms when she presented to A and E each time and no doubt saw a different doctor each time she presented. I sure hope that she stays in remission and is able to enjoy the rest of her life with the family that she dreams to have.

One final thought is; patients are a vital source of knowledge to assist doctors in the course of their careers. They meet a diverse range of people to garner information from, to assist them in recognising illnesses in patients they meet so everything is helpful one way or another.

UPDATE: Teenager with bowel cancer, it doesn’t get rougher than that 😭 she is lucky it was picked up in time. Let’s hope she stays in remission and can lead a full and happy life. Alcohol definitely plays a large part in bowel cancer, excessive drinking makes you a high candidate for bowel cancer.
