The ideas that Australia started — that the world followed

Aeroguard, insect repellent a must have if you visit Australia, the flies here are stubborn. Giving rise to the term, the great Australian salute. Swatting the flies off you because they just cling to you, even as you head indoors there is usually one pesky little bugger on your back. The fly is then loose in your house so you then head to the cupboard for a can of Mortein to kill the critter.

Lol, Goon, is a colloquial term for the cask of wine and people have been known to peg these on the Hills Hoyts at parties as a game when drinking. They can also be used as an improvised ice block by refilling them with water and freezing them to put into a container or an Esky to keep things cool.

Not sure if other countries use the term Chateau cardboard for cask wine but it’s common in Australia to use the term.

Australia's last mounted postie Bruce Dennis farewelled by historic town of Gundagai

What a local legend, I had no idea that any mail delivery was on horseback up to the 1980’s. Bruce Dennis is modern version of the man from Snowy River. He will be missed but his memory will always live on in the community. Gundagai is the town made famous by the dog on the tucker box poem by Jack Moses and the famous statue.
