Borax Powder for personal use

I thought people may be interested in uses for Borax powder, such as an anti fungal treatment and an additive to epsom salts or magnesium chloride in the bath or a foot bath.

Borax has multiple uses and you should use it very carefully. Just because it is natural doesn’t mean that it cannot be harmful. So please do read up on the do's and don'ts of using Borax.

I am an insomniac and live in a house that adds up to the number 5, which is a notorious number for insomniacs. Anyway, I started using a tablespoon of Borax in a foot bath with magnesium chloride last week and boy oh boy what a great sleep as well as my feet feeling great. I still use my magnesium cream with chamomile and lavender at bedtime too.

Borax is good for keeping one’s skin acid neutral and is useful for deep cleaning to remove excess oil from your skin, so a must have for those who have oily skin. It is used in commercial shampoos, exfoliants, creams and cleansers. Borax is also known as a preservative in preventing bacterial growth in shampoos, creams and lotions. However some people have allergies to Borax and long term use can cause skin rashes.

Please make sure that you keep it away from children and pets. Large amounts can be harmful, so use with caution and follow the instructions on a reputable website.

Borax has multiple household uses too so if you can’t tolerate it on your skin it may be good for cleaning your house and as a laundry booster to keep your clothes mould free.

Mouldy clothes or bedding in winter

 https://www.bhg.com.au/lifestyle/cleaning/how-to-wash-mould-clothes/

With the cold and damp weather back, mould is back too. There are natural ways to remove mould from clothing, bedding and other things. One of the most common and effective ways is using borax, using white vinegar or bicarbonate of soda in your washing machine.

Sunlight is a powerful tool in not just drying your laundry but also killing spores and fungus. Make sure that your laundry is completely dry before bringing it indoors. If you have an inverter tumble dryer that will completely dry any damp clothes that will help.

Water must be at least 65 degrees celsius to kill bacteria and that includes your washing up water when washing dishes. If your sink water is only 50 or 55 degrees centigrade then you can’t kill bacteria, either so add boiling water from the kettle or buy antibacterial dishes washing detergent.

For bed linen to keep fresh and avoid mould in a damp environment use borax, you should ventilate your rooms and use moisture removal products like damp rid, regularly to pull the moisture out of the air. These tubs fill with water quickly depending on where you live and if the house is prone to dampness. You can buy the replacement granules for your damp rid pots which works out cheaper than buy new tubs when the crystals are used up. Keep an eye on your windows for black mould too and wipe them down often through winter. Some houses and flats or apartments get mould on the inside walls too so you may need to move furniture to check for mould especially near beds.

I remember as a child and newly arrived in Australia when I lived in a Sydney flat with stone walls inside, and my mother had to keep cleaning the mildew off the walls in our bedrooms. She was fastidious about cleaning the house and always opened the windows every morning but still the mildew would happen.

Mould does affect your health and must be taken seriously as mould can lead to serious illness including cancer.

‘Profoundly positive influence’: Study reveals brain hack to instantly lift your mood

 https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/wellbeing/profoundly-positive-influence-study-reveals-brain-hack-to-instantly-lift-your-mood/news-story/fc7e5a380bf0e6518595dc5f58fdfaa1

This is basically common sense; and humanity has always known we need nature around us to be grounded and nature is needed for our mental health and for our general wellbeing. We are part of nature and not separate, just the same as we are a body- mind- spirit composite. Take one of these things away and we become ill and we create disharmony within ourselves. To be disconnected from nature is humanities downfall, we were not designed to live in a concrete jungle and lived cheek by jowl as this creates tension or disharmony and dis-ease of body, mind and spirit.

Also the movement or flow of energy is harmonious without sharp edges as observed in Feng Shui. The elements play a large part in our lives whether we realise or not. But the experts in Feng Shui have been able to demonstrate this for centuries. The west has lost much of its ancient wisdom to its detriment and especially its spirituality.

Why are they not also mentioning in this article the fact that most houses are not designed for harmony and harmonious energy to flow freely? A square house or building is like a box, it’s closed in and restrictive. The sharp edges of the building should be smooth. Small windows don’t allow the sunlight and thus affects the chi or energy flow.

My house has large windows front and back, my gardens are green with shrubs and trees and inviting to wild birds and insects. I have a seat next to a window so that I can sit and relax when I need to. This is bringing the outdoors, indoors. So that I can feel immersed in nature no matter what the weather is doing.

Your house also needs to have things in each room that are not just attractive to the eye but must be placed in the correct location for the energy to be harmonious. That includes certain types of plants and again working with the elements in Feng Shui. You will definitely notice the difference when done correctly.

Clutter is bad for us mentally too, so things need to be stored in cupboards and drawers. Hoarding is also something that affects our mental health and this becomes a huge burden on the individual.

Colour also plays an important role to lift the mind. There are plenty psychologists that will attest to the correct use of colours to create a harmonious environment. Colour does stimulate the brain just like shape and nature does. You will notice that hospitals use pale calming colours and this is to stimulate healing and ease the mind.

I often have clients that need to be near water often to feel grounded. These people come from various walks of life. Others prefer forests to feel grounded, I must admit that I love being near forests, however I do like rivers and little streams to enhance my sense of calm.

Unfortunately many people are not in the position to introduce these harmonious elements into their work environment and even their home environment. Due to the nature of their work and also living conditions.

This makes the ability to relax difficult but not impossible. Meditation and mindfulness are an option, as is listening to calming music, switching off the tv and read uplifting books or novels. Avoiding distractions that are stressful is vital as is taking time out to unwind from the daily routine and pressure. Use magnesium cream on your body to relax and at night to get a peaceful sleep put the magnesium cream on the lower back, behind your knees and on the top of your feet before getting into bed. Do this every night to build up the magnesium levels in your body as 50% of the population are deficient in magnesium which leads to depression and other health problems.

Please read the information about magnesium here https://www.ancient-minerals.com/ scroll down to where it says “required reading “ then click on each page. This is valuable information for anyone, I use magnesium all the time. I started off with this brand at my local health food shop, but they stopped stocking it for some reason and started stocking Amazing oils magnesium which is just as good, they add chamomile and lavender for the night time cream and I love that stuff. Below is the link to Amazing Oils magnesium.

I find soft classical music is very therapeutic as is meditation music which you can find on YouTube. My favourite meditation music at present is Thai meditation music

https://youtu.be/QZbuj3RJcjI?si=a6A6xadI8y7flk7_ This is the YouTube link to the 3 hour meditation video I love. I haven’t put the video on here because some YouTube channels don’t like others uploading videos to their blogs. If you choose not to click on the link but would like to hear the music. Then type in 3 hour relaxing music, evening meditation. 🧘 You will see a picture of candles, a rolled up towel and a pile of stones on the left side of the picture.

I hope that you get so much pleasure from the music as I do.

I would like to caution people, that certain music on some individuals can open up the chakras unintentionally. So please be mindful of this. Ground and attune your body before and after listening to any music designed to work on the mind. If you feel a strange sensation like floating or a feeling of leaving your body, stop immediately because that should not be done. Refocus and ground yourself immediately. Then perhaps have a cup of tea. The goal is to de stress yourself only.

So whatever floats your boat and is enjoyable is perfectly fine for the individual. Create what you feel is harmonious in your home or bedroom if you live in a shared house. But do look into the Feng Shui position for your bedroom as that is a place of rest. The position of the bed is important. Often using mirrors can improve the energy flow and a sense of calm.

19 Signs of Vitamin D Deficiency

https://medical-news.org/signs-vitamin-d-deficiency/512/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=MN3&utm_campaign=23853409979870206&utm_content=23853409981090206_23853409993680206&fbclid=IwAR2ykzuF-z-7h7_EjBuKugrx2_vAFjt--HsKYzGt9cCApSWu6ACJgA_cRO4_aem_th_AcWGODoYwz_AH_YFoNe1TgpTRY83j18AxEl7onZK8Ga4mQ2IcZJs6lPvpreLm1Qe50aAIXcmSik46dMHBzAdENqN

People don’t realise how common this is, especially in winter and in countries that don’t get a lot of sunlight. If you live in an apartment and work full time, then it’s hard to get that sunlight.

Once you scroll through this article, there is one on magnesium deficiency please read that too. It is more often than not that we are deficient in magnesium. One of the first things you will notice is aching leg muscles and fatigue. Also magnesium taken orally is a waste of time and money. It is best absorbed transdermal in a cream form. I use this myself all the time. For muscle aches make sure that you drink enough water too because when muscles are not getting enough water they tighten up and can cause muscle aches and fatigue.

This is the link for an Australian website that has a good magnesium cream, the spray leaves an icky texture on your skin, so use the cream. There is a great American brand called Ancient Minerals, I used to buy that but it’s very difficult to get recently, so I have been buying the Amazing Minerals Sleep lotion, which has lavender and chamomile essential oils. I guarantee that you will sleep well with that.

Oooh, my favourite goodies. Turns out that it is a sign of magnesium deficiency. Check out the article on the above link.

I still ain’t giving up my chocolate for anything 🤣🤣🍫🍫 Carob just doesn’t cut it with me, lol.

I recommend buying the magnesium sleep lotion here, but to buy the flakes Blants of Sydney are the go to people.

NineNews: Sleeping this way could add five years to your life

 https://www.9news.com.au/national/sleeping-this-way-adds-five-years-life-expectancy-study-finds/edb38a5c-1eb0-4fc6-b902-0ebb041d18fc

What this doesn’t say is how older people tend to get insomnia, I have been in dealing with insomnia on and off for a few years. Just when I thought I had it beat, it came back. I have chronic sleep apnea and had that diagnosed over a year ago.

My husband and I used to joke about good luck to which one of us got to sleep first because we both snore  something shocking. Taking medication such as the hormone melatonin only works for so long and then insomnia returns.

I use magnesium cream with Lavender and Chamomile which smells great and helps to a point but I need it for my aching legs at night. It definitely helps with the quality of sleep and I highly recommend using it. A few drops of Lavender oil on your pillow may help with sleep too. Occasionally a cup of chamomile tea or a tea designed for sleeping is helpful.

Most people are deficient in magnesium due to the poor quality of modern food which is either full of preservatives and little nutrients or grown with chemical fertilisers which rob the earth of nutrients and affect all that is growing in the soil and this also affects the livestock too. Returning to natural methods of fertilisers will correct this but it is cheaper to use chemical fertilisers and in turn affects our health.

I do recommend reading a book in bed rather that using an iPad or tablet, the light from these devices can also affect your sleep quality. But going to bed early and quieting your mind after watching tv is essential. Over stimulating your mind stops one being relaxed enough to fall asleep, electronic devices such as using an iPad definitely over stimulates your brain even a kindle can over stimulate your mind at night. Where a book is more natural.

Perhaps practice meditation or breathing techniques to calm yourself for sleep. Not everyone can meditate so just focus on breathing ensuring that you are breathing properly. If you waken up in the middle of the night trying focusing on breathing again. I don’t think there is an easy answer to poor sleep quality but just do what you can and if it works that’s great. Don’t stress about what the news article says about lengthening your lifespan. I don’t think it is worth worrying about. Just do what you can, think of things that make you happy and you will be a sleepy teddy in no time.
