Poor Miss Ruby was at the vet

Poor little Miss Ruby had to have teeth pulled out yesterday. As an older doggie of 14 and a half years old, she has never had any dental problems until now. We assumed it was only three back molars to be removed, however when under the general anaesthetic; the vet discovered two more teeth to be removed.

We bought her a cute Gingerbread man cushion while she was at the vet, which she can snuggle on or play with. We also found out she has Cushion's syndrome, but at her age she is doing well anyway. The poor little soul has been very sore and sorry for herself last night and today. Thankfully she has good strong medication to assist in pain relief and antibiotics.

Last night she snuggled on the couch with her new Gingerbread man cushion and later took it to bed for comfort. In mummy and daddy’s big bed of course as usual. Ruby is a wee human girl after all, she only uses a doggie bed in my office as a lounge chair. She did sleep well through the night but woke up this morning whimpering in pain. She took her antibiotics and pain meds fine and was given a little ice cream as a treat. It’s going to be a couple of days before she can have her doggie chocolate buttons, and she’s not impressed.

Ruby was rather unsettled today and wouldn’t leave my side for one minute or sit down for longer than a few minutes. She wants her normal treats but has to stick to soft foods only for a few days, and boy that’s a hard thing for her to understand. She walks over to the drawer where all her food and treats are and sits there, looking up with big brown eyes. Mummy I want something nice please! It’s so hard having to say no to her. We are making a huge fuss of her of course, gee, like when don’t we make a fuss over our beautiful little girl! We made sure that she went out to a dog friendly cafe the day before,  so that she had a nice day out before her dental procedure. She had some tea and a little bit of my scones just like at home, and got to explore the nice gardens around the outdoor cafe and visited a nice plant nursery where she got pats and treats. She is such a good girl wherever she goes.
