As we look at a fast changing world full of uncertainty we pause to reflect on past world wars and the suffering.
The time between seems to disappear and a new timeline opens up, we must not let humanity keep suffering like this. Lessons must be learned and heeded.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
LEST WE FORGET
Flanders Poppies from my garden
In Flanders fields the poppies grow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Note: I am using the original word 'grow' and not blow. Did you know there is a strong debate about the wording? It is interchangeable as the poet John McCrae used it interchangeably after Punch magazine changed grow to blow.
John "Simpson" Kirkpatrick and his donkey Duffy
Known in Australia ans Simpson and his donkey
The statue at the Australian War Memorial Canberra
Please remember all tha animals that saved many lives in service to humanity and buy a purple poppy in remembrance of their sacrifice too. Most of the horses that the Australian army shipped to the war front were shot at the end of the war because our government did not want to transport them back home. If that is not a crime against animals, I don't know what is.
I will always wear a purple poppy for the animals and a badge for my family members that fought in both world wars. My father was in other campaigns as he was only a little boy during WW2.
Veterans Honour Rose
Please buy this to support our veterans
I just planted the rose a few weeks ago but it won't flower until it's much bigger
The RSL Rose
I have this rose in remembrance of my father, this also raises money for the RSL
Please support our soldiers past and present by buying roses in their honour and support charities like Soldier On, and charities that support animals used by the military.
