A lot of sniffing going on back then, and fact is often stranger than fiction. How many professionals have had their reputation ruined by those that think they know better? The arrogance in academia is astounding and for enlightened people they are not prepared to open their minds up very far.

They definitely knew more than they let on. Yet why did it take up to the 1990's for the news of the Vikings in the Americas and the ancient Celts of Ireland mixing and intermarriage with native Americans with one native tribe of Americans supposedly speaking a form of Gaelic.
